Greetings!
Here is what is happening this September at the "Solstice Center" (which includes the following: Solstice Institute, 302 Pearl St. Studios, and Boulder Ayurveda, all located on the SE corner of 3rd and Pearl in Boulder, Colorado). For your entertainment this month we invite you to watch a short, 2.5 minute music video highlighting events at the building this summer - with selected scenes of the new skylights, gardens, and other building activity. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhmYnXsaQ04 to see the video.
A reminder for our dancers - Dance Home now starts at 9:00 pm on Fridays. This change will help accommodate better use of the building during the early evening hours. Barefoot Boogie's time on Tuesdays remains unchanged.

At one point during the years of rabbinical school, the spirits of my aunt Dora & grandmother Hanna who were murdered in Auschwitz came close and I asked them: "I can't carry nor redeem either of your experiences much less 6 million. What am I to do?" They answered: "Live & share as much joy & happiness as you possibly can. They took that from us long before our bodies." I offer you the beginning of the harvest of that delightful challenge in addition to the fruits already gathered from my work experiences as renegade rabbi*, writer, artist, actress, hypnotherapist & graphologist. Feel free to contact me for any information: rubyrain@msn.com or 303-444-1231. (*I graduated from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical School in 6/95 & was ordained by Rabbi Zalman Schacter-Shalomi.)

Daelinar has studied martial arts for twenty years and incorporates European fencing with Japanese Kendo and Shaolin Kung-fu in this class. Great for all ages. Hero Dragon Parent Workshop - October 14
Hero Dragon offers an imaginative framework in which we can keep the lines of communication with our kids open and focus on facing and solving problems rather than sidestepping them. Parents can take challenging topics like unwanted behavior and self-control into a make-believe world in which we empower heroes and subdue dragons for the good of all. The playful imagery serves to lighten conversations, encourage collaboration, and minimize judgement and blame.
Attendees of this one-day event will get a comprehensive look at how Hero Dragon works. Participants will be invited to work through exercises that demonstrate how to apply Hero Dragon to the circumstances of their own families. See how we can go from "How many times must I tell you!?!?" to "Let's calm that miserable dragon and find our heroes to work this out."
Registrations are now being accepted and will be limited to 30 participants.

The Neurology of Posture
A Course in Neurofascial Manipulation
October 9-11, 2006, 302 Pearl St. Boulder, CO, Cost: $400.
The goal of this seminar is to make the immense complexity of the nervous system intelligible and useful to you in your practice. It is a hands-on exploration of ways you can work with both the central and peripheral nervous systems to improve structural function and balance and to reduce pain.
The seminar integrates the peripheral and cranial nerve work of Jean-Pierre Barral, the assessment techniques of the Australian Neurodynamic group, central nervous system innovations of neurophysiologist Ted Carrick and the structural principles of Ida Rolf.
In the practical portion you will learn to palpate neural tissue, to distinguish inflammatory conditions and to assess the “glide” of nerve trunks within their surroundings. While it may take months to become proficient in palpation, you can quickly learn enough to recognize compromised states and have a beneficial effect on them.
Discussions will present the most recent understanding of inflammation and its critical importance to normal functioning of both the structure and the nervous system. You will also learn distinctions between the peripheral and central nervous systems and their relations to structural distortions.
Several web pages present background information at http://dhazen.com.
Register for the seminar with the Rolf Institute. Please contact: Jim Jones, Director of Education at jjones@rolf.org or 800-530-8875 ext.105. The Institute policies for payment and cancellation for Continuing Education Workshops will apply.
Thanks for reading. If you are interested in space rental at 302 Pearl St. Studios, please reply to or forward this email.
If you are in the neighborhood, please come by and check out the beautiful new hallway skylights that our carpenter, Peter Macgill, has recently installed. The once formerly cramped hallway is now a lofty place of respite. Also, come and take a look at the gardens in the front of the building that Varadaan, building owner, has so lovingly installed.
