Happy New Year to all you Dance Home (DH) patrons, and thanks for your diverse support over the past 13.5 years. DH operates on a modest budget, and our staff is underpaid; some even make less than minimum wage. 302 Pearl St. Studios had to subsidize our insurance again this year, and our Equipment Fund only has $210. We have also been fund-raising for a while to buy PA speakers with high-end fidelity, which has never been the case with our
sound-system.
The DH team decided that our sliding-scale fee structure needs to be raised by $1, which would still keep the high end ($6) well below the other dance scenes and communities in Boulder, none of which play music as long as we do. Dancers can still save $1 by coming early or save $2 during the last hour. The punch-card option will be more attractive by going from $40 to $48 (instead of $50). We'll also explore new ways of supporting those of you with financial challenges, which we'll share more about in January.
This increase will take effect on Friday, February 2nd. Please know that we've never raised the price in 13.5 years; in fact, there wasn't a sliding-scale the 1st two years, just a straight $5 fee. And though we tried our best with a donation system, it set us back financially. Thanks for your understanding. Call 303-499-9357 with any questions.

HERO DRAGON WORKSHOP, led by Sue Kranzdorf
Hero Dragon offers an imaginative framework in which we can keep the lines of communication with our kids open and focus on facing and solving problems rather than sidestepping them. Parents can take challenging topics like unwanted behavior and self-control into a make-believe world in which we empower heroes and subdue dragons for the good of all. The playful imagery serves to lighten conversations, encourage collaboration, and minimize judgement and blame.
Attendees of this one-day event will get a comprehensive look at how Hero Dragon works. Participants will be invited to work through exercises that demonstrate how to apply Hero Dragon to the circumstances of their own families. See how we can go from "How many times must I tell you!?!?" to "Let's calm that miserable dragon and find our heroes to work this out."
Registrations are now being accepted and will be limited to 30 participants.
