September events at Solstice

It looks to be a busy month at Solstice. Get ready for more building changes in the months to come: already, reconstruction is underway in the old part of the building, and all the offices have been vacated. The workshop spaces will not be affected (except for the skylight room the week of Sept. 17).

Read the Boulder Weekly article on Dance Home!

The Friday night dance on 8/31 is canceled - we are painting the big room (with low voc paint). The dances will continue every Tues' and Fri' from thereon as usual.

The 6th annual Dance Home Showcase is scheduled for Saturday, September 29th. If you'd like to help organize and/or host, your commitment of time is limited to the day of the event. We're also seeking performers on a 1st come 1st serve basis. Talk to Mark Klosterman at 303-499-9357 for more information.

Gurdjieff Sacred Dances – A mystical movement practice developed by controversial Russian mystic G.I. Gurdjieff based on ancient esoteric teachings from Central Asia. The dances range from dramatic, vigorous rhythms to flowing, reverent forms and are accompanied by evocative music. Why learn these sacred dances? To develop harmony between our 4 often disjointed levels of awareness: the physical body, the heart, the mind, and the spirit; to develop our inner attention and touch new modes of awareness; and to open ourselves to a higher quality of spiritual power. Join us for a beautiful practice that provides an experiential bridge between mind, body, and emotions like nothing else.
We will meet every other Friday, beginning September 7th, from 7:00 to 8:30pm at the Solstice Center.

These movements are the self-care aspect of a comprehensive system of neuro-based intrinsic physical rehabilitation.

The slow, small movements explored in this non-aerobic class draw on concepts from Feldenkrais, Aston Patterning, Pilates & yoga in a unique way that will increase your body awareness & make you a more graceful & efficient mover.
