Jyotish, in Sanskrit translated as “science of light,” is a profound and mathematically sophisticated form of astrology that originated in the ancient Vedic tradition of India. A sister science to Yoga and Ayurveda, it describes how planetary patterns at the time of our birth give valuable clues in helping us understand our life’s journey. Through careful analysis of cosmic influences, Jyotish can help us realistically evaluate our strengths and weaknesses, energy patterns and karmic tedancies in order to optimize our full potential.
By forecasting the changing trends and periods of our lives, Jyotish Astrology can enable us to make more evolutionary choices. Anand was born and raised in Rishikesh, the foothills of the Himalayas, which is said to be yoga's birthplace. Anand has been teaching since the age of 16 in different parts of the world; and his students range from experienced yoga masters in Europe to celebrity clients in L.A. Wouldn't it be great to meet with other Ayurvedic specialists to share our wisdom and support each other as healers? Well, it's happening! come on out! Location: Lotus Room, Solstice Center, Thursday August 21, 7:00-9:00
We are pulling together a peer group of Ayurvedic Practioners in the Boulder area on a monthly basis to meet for a few hours. The vision is to create a supportive (non-competitive) group of Ayurvedic Specialists, Practitioners of all levels and the serious student to share our wisdom of this vast science, to get tips from others, to offer advice, to share our tough case studies and to support the true and original intention of Ayurveda in healing ourselves and our community. This is not a business or profit oriented meeting - so please come with your beginner minds and humility.
The first hour will be dedicated to discussing focused topics and the second hour will be open to share with others our general questions and to discuss ideas on the best approach for our patients.
List of topics will be decided by the group but may consist of: herbalized oils, mudras, ayurvedic asanas, references from Charaka or Astanga Hrdayam etc, Nadis and Marma points, PK, Vedic Astrology/Medical Astrology, Massage techniques, Ayurvedic Psychology, Bastis etc.

Together facilitators Laurie Pemberton and Stephanie Mines combine thirty years of educational experience and group leadership. Laurie is a Brown Belt NIA instructor. Her intention is for her students to honor their bodies joyfully through movement. She focuses on each student finding the gifts and messages of their own life. Stephanie Mines, Ph.D. founded the TARA Approach and teaches internationally. She is an author and educator serving people of all ages, including those who have suffered extreme trauma. She also holds a NIA White Belt. Stephanie and Laurie join forces for the first time in this inaugural workshop to present their vision of the body as an information system that can playfully download stories of grace and regeneration.
