Make a Short Film - a one day intensive class, taught by Michael Conti.
In just one day, students will create a short film using in-camera editing, practicing learning by doing. This intensive workshop will take you from script to screen, using the same tools that big-time Hollywood directors have used for decades. Director Michael Conti will provide a screenplay drafted with the idea of finishing it into a shooting script in class. From there you will devise a shot list, a storyboard, and a shooting schedule based upon in-camera editing. A digital video camera will be provided for the class, and Michael will demonstrate how it works, highlighting in-camera editing and other techniques for both hand-held and fluid-head tripod shots. After a break[~]it[base ']s lights, camera, action, and production starts! A professional lighting kit will be available, and you will learn the fundamentals of utilizing both natural and artificial light. Everyone will get to try out several roles, including directing, acting, lighting, and shooting. Then, invite friends and family to view the completed short film that same evening.
